Krystal Whyment

Krystal was called to the Bar in 2008 and specialises in Crime, Professional Disciplinary and Regulatory work.

Her criminal portfolio encompasses the full range of offences including drugs, violence, sex, murder and dishonesty. In particular, Krystal acts for those accused of money laundering and assists with matters concerning confiscation, restraint and cash forfeiture.

In regards to her regulatory work, Krystal has extensive experience in Healthcare matters – ranging from interim orders to lengthy, multi-registrant substantive hearings and appeals. Krystal has appeared both for the Regulator and the Registrant before the General Medical Council, General Optical Council, General Dental Council and the Nursing and Midwifery Council. Having dealt with allegations of misconduct, dishonesty, lack of competence or health issues, Krystal is well established in this field.

Of note, Krystal acted on behalf of the Nursing and Midwifery Council in the successful removal of Brendan Quinn from the Nursing Register, following a wide number of failings in regards to a celebrity rehabilitation centre (“The Causeway Retreat”) which he ran on Osea Island, Essex. Mr Quinn was found to have substantially failed in many aspects of patient safety, particularly in relation to those suffering from mental health issues and with suicidal tendencies.

Krystal also has an outstanding record representing teachers before the National College for Teaching and Leadership (NCTL).

In addition, Krystal is has excellent experience of  judicial review work in respect of Healthcare Regulatory matters. With a 100% success rate, Krystal has developed an impressive portfolio of challenges.

Krystal has worked at Kingsley Napley LLP, 5 St Andrew’s Hill Chambers and DWF LLP prior to joining Bankside Law in 2016. She brings with her a wealth of experience to compliment an already impressive team.
